I have been in my travel bubble and have been very much off social media lately, just using it to vaguely keep in touch with some people, but then I have so many pictures of Japan after going twice (10 weeks all together!) in the past 6 months and am surprising myself that I don’t feel crazy urges to share all these pictures on here. Maybe it’s just because it’s so so hard to choose…

This village has become one of my favorite landscapes. A wonderful refuge between mountain and sea near Hiroshima. I fell in love with Japan long before going there for the first time 2 years ago, and have been loving it even more every day spent in this country.

psych-facts:

““I had a weird, empty feeling inside me. Not a bad sort of empty. It was a sort of lack of sensation, like being in pain for a long time and then suddenly realizing that you’re not anymore.”

— Maggie Stiefvater, Linger

The weirdest part is feeling that you kinda miss your shitty rollercoaster emotions when they aren’t there for a while. Where are my crying spells? Where are my breakdowns? When will the colors be beautifully intense again? Is this being “normal”?

Empty feeling empty kinda happy kinda lost it feels ok

Ikigai

creatingnikki:

Today I learned a Japanese word “ikigai’.
It has a very beautiful meaning - ‘The purpose of being’
Every human has an ikigai.

I wonder why we often find foreign words so fascinating. I mean we basically have words for the very same meaning in English too.
I think for me it is because these English words have a lot of baggage, a lot of predetermined meaning and a lot of associated beliefs conditioned by society.

When I think of ‘purpose’ I think of a 100 things but how many of those are my true thoughts?
When I hear ‘ikigai’, it’s a totally new word and though the meaning might be old, it gives me an opportunity to discover my ikigai without any expectations, standards or norms.

ikigai foreign words japanese words raison d'etre reason to live reason to wake up finding meaning
